"Whenever my family or friends criticize me for being a Vegan or ask me "well what's the point? I like meat and they're just animals?" I like to share this scenario:
Imagine you're in a park with friends when suddenly you hear a loud cry. You run over to see a man beating a dog to death with a stick, and it is screaming in pain and agony. What do you do? Most people would get the man to stop and would call the police, insisting that this man be sentenced to jail for animal cruelty. Now, repeat this scenario, but replace the dog with a chicken or a cow. What would you do then? This kind of thing happens all the time in slaughterhouses. Workers beat the animals, along with keeping them confined in small cages where they can't even turn around. It is unethical to even consider what goes on in slaughterhouses is justified by the fact that you think it's ok because "it tastes good." Not only is it cruel, but animal agriculture is the leading cause of greenhouse gases (18% of emissions comes from it compared to the 13% of all transportation exhaust combined,) excess carbon dioxide in our air (32,000 million tons each year, which is 51% of greenhouse gases worldwide,) and large amounts of methane. Is this worth it? It isn't for me."

"For the most part. And I mean very rarely. Animals do not suffer in slaughterhouses. Also. Watch a show called the cosmos. Dogs have kinship to humans. They provided early warning of other predators through keen smell and eyes and in return get a consistent easy meal. That's why dogs stand Ina. Separate class to many humans. Still at the same time this pro has no value to individuals in some parts of the world who consume dogs and cats. Just trying to state that you should look for a more encompassing argument than something that only applies to a majority. What argument applies to the whole set? To everyone?"

"There is not enough information in this post. Suppose the man was homeless and the dog (or chicken or cow or even a whale) was his only source of food. You just stopped this man, who was simply trying to have just one more meal, from eating. He was arrested, thrown in jail for a 24-hour hold and, oh no... he died. The autopsy says his death was caused by starvation. Way to go, Caroline!

Slaughterhouses are given very strict animal treatment rules and guidelines. Are they watched over by Big Brother 24/7? No. Should they be? Seriously? Wait, yeah seriously, they should. Caroline! I found you a job: Animal Cruelty Whistle Blower!

I've read alot about environmental effects, but not enough to form an argument. So, I'll just agree with you regarding the second half of your post. I like clean air. We should all stop farting. Just saying.

People are free to each whatever they want to eat, whether it is a chunk of an animal's leg or a carrot. There are several health benefits of vegetarianism, as well as benefits for the environment. I chose to be a vegetarian because I love animals, and hate the fact they had to be killed for me to eat dinner."

    "Both are good things, includes the fact that God ordained animals for the benefit of mankind, D&C 89:12-18. I read this: "Yea, flesh also of beasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless they are to be used csparingly;
And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be used, only in times of winter, or of cold, or famine. All grain is good for the food of man; as also the fruit of the vine; that which yieldeth fruit, whether in the ground or above the ground"..."And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones; (see Doctrine and Covenants 89:12-18, etc.see also,
Because of this, we can choose because of our right for moral agency, we can spare meat for a time when done so, also be creative with vegetarian food. Happy Thanksgiving 2018."

Plus vegetarians also are skinnier and you get excuses if you are a cheeseitarian (like me :) ) to eat more cheese and eggs and all of that good stuff. So consider being vegetarian you live longer, more animals like you, and you get a much healthier lifestyle."

"Morals change with time. If this discussion took place 200 years ago, we might have been debating the pros and cons of slavery -- and many people thought slavery was justified because blacks were biologically inferior to whites.

Slavery was also a big financial sector of the U.S. economy. Between Slavery in the U.S. was once a major source of wealth: between 1805 and 1860, the total wealth in slaves fluctuated between $5 and $13 trillion (2011 US dollars). But economic arguments are not necessarily moral arguments.

And yet, the U.S. survived the loss of the multi-trillion dollar industry known as slavery. They realised that blacks were people, too, had to be treated better.

Now I get to my point: People vote with their dollar. To that end, they are responsible for the enterprises they support. How are we to look at the billions of animals we keep in factory stalls? Are animals like pigs and cows so stupid and immune to pain that the dollar value (and taste) of their flesh makes it ok to factory-produce them?

More to the point about morals and history: how will people 100 years in the future look at our factory farms? How will history judge us?"

"Animal fats are the best nutrition in the world. It's easily stored and helps maintain long bouts of endurance. Sports is the obvious example or a noted bumper sticker stating "the west wasn't won on salad". Sounds brutal but it's true. Biologists agree even for marathon running fat content as high as 35% is best. And fats don't come from veggies. This even extends to military and labor. The side that consumes fat is often attributed nutritional bonuses that cannot be achieved with vegetarian diets."

They don't affect you, they don't cause your body distress, they don't force you to eat their food. As humans we are self aware, if someone who's a vegetarian or even vegan become ill from not consuming red meat. Guess what! They'll eat some red meat and go back to how they where! I have never seen someone to bent on not eating meat they allowed themselves to die over it. The cost and the pollution of producing meat is very high and the animals that are used for the food are sometimes(mostly now...) are killed/slaughtered inhumanly.
While people argue that meat has many pollution and costly setbacks, growing vegetables are just as difficult. Vegetables require constant care and they require constant attention. Although it dosen't create as much waste as meat, it does cause enough run-off and things of the like.
I believe that pele should consider becoming vegetarian, but remember that eating a healthy sized portion of beef can give you a sufficient amount of protein."

"I have been Vegetarian since i was 11, i dont have a problem with people eating meat, but you should never waste, i believe if we have to kill animals it should be human as possible, i do have a problem with people genetically engineering animals such as chicken to be bigger, by pumping them full of hormones so they can make an extra dollar, or putting ports ( a rubber hole) on the sides of cows connecting to there stomachs to make sure there stomach contents are just right and they are getting the right amount of hormones. Its truly sickening the things company's do to make sure they spend less and make more money. You dont even want to know how Chicken nuggets are made.

The thing people dont realize is being a vegetarian doesnt mean your diet consists of veggies, it means a diet with out meat, Personally i hate veggies, i am what you call a Lacto Ovo Vegetarian, Which means my diet consists of mostly dairy, there are other ways to get protein, But as i said to begin with there is nothing wrong with eating meat, people just need to cut back on it, Red meat may be good to others but it is horrible in big amounts to the body, it causes many health problems such as heart disease and colon cancer, and other things. just be smart."

"There's been a lot of research on the whole "eating meat after long meatless periods" thing. It turns out to be very common and with a good explanation: familiarity. The human body has an amazing ability to adapt. Stop eating meat long enough and your body will "forget about it", so-to-speak. Reintroducing meat, even sporadically and in small amounts, will cause a bit of confusion, if you will, resulting in an upset stomach.

What about the reverse? Switching to an herbivorous diet from a omnivorous diet, quitting meat and going veggie full time in other words, will cause the same effects. However, these effects are much more noticable and, for some, much more uncomfortable. A sudden increase of fiber from vegetables is known to cause digestive discomfort (gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, etc.). At the same time, a sudden lack of meat may cause a sort of "dietary shock", resulting in an increased appetite and change in metabolism. Typically, these effects even out by week 8. It took me about 3-4 weeks to finally even out when I switched. But, I worked in meat to some extent. My wife still gets nausea from just looking at chicken, but she works past it. Still won't prep it, though.

"I'm a flex. Leafheads hate me because I eat meat; meatlovers hate me because I love veggies. Well I hate everyone equally, I'm not religious, and I don't hunt/fish. With that out of the way... PRO's to becoming a vegetarian:

You can eat veggies literally nonstop and never feel "misera-full" (miserably full).
Veggies help you poop and help keep your intestines clean and healthy. Farts don't smell half as bad as meatlovers'. Fiber transports excess saturated fat out of the body. No refrigeration necessary. Virtually endless meal ideas. Vegan spaghetti. Incredibly affordable (except for organic). Dressing and gutting a cucumber is so much easier than any animal; much easier to catch, too. Vegetarians tend to have a more attractive body. Vegetarian body scent is less offensive (genetic exceptions apply). Hummus and baby carrots. Potato cakes. There is a huge selection of meatless meats now-a-days (shoutout to The Herbivorous Butcher in Minneapolis - thanks Kale and Aubry!). Vegetarians can have real cheese; vegans can't. Ninja haki-saki-ing off a head of lettuce won't leave blood all over your kitchen. Veggies can be safely eaten raw.

Now for the CON's. I'll start that one the same way: "I'm a flex.""

"Fact: upon death, a cat will eat its human to survive. Why? Why not?! Food is food! Survival is natural.

Like I said in my response to Jennifer, consider this: you're locked in a room with a cow and no food. You and the cow will die. However, if you eat the cow and survive at least 30 days, you'll be released. What are you going to do?

The more I ask this to vegans/vegetarians, the more I realize it might be a dumb question. I'm sure you're going to have too much pride and be willing to die side by side with Ol' Bessy. Shame. You could have made it. A little bit of counseling afterward, and you would have been fine.

There is an ENORMOUS difference between humans and every other animal on the face of the planet. Given the option of a bar of chocolate, an apple, lettuce, a steak, and a banana, a monkey will eat the banana; a lion the steak; a horse the apple; a manatee the lettuce. Not many people will pass on the chocolate. I assure you the average cat isn't going to prefer anything other than the steak.

Difference between all creatures is what makes us each unique. It's how we were created (or evolved or whatever). It's not our own little "advantage". It's just how it is.

"Ryan, in response to your scenario with Ol'Bessy, when is that seriously ever going to happen? In real life we arent faced with life or death situations like that that force us to eat cows or chicken. We drive to the store and buy our food. Simple.

And I didnt say consuming animal products was the sole source to blame for health issues but it is certainly the biggest reason and the easiest to avoid. Exercise is important but not as important as diet.
Mayo clinic does state that you should eat a diet low in saturated fat but it also states you must control high cholesterol. According to the AHA(American Heart Association) the leaders in this type of knowledge, saturated fat should be avoided because it raises levels of cholesterol in your blood. Yes saturated fat is bad but cholesterol is the big culprit here. The AHA also states "Saturated fats occur naturally in many foods. The majority come mainly from animal sources, including meat and dairy products." The majority come mainly from animal sources. And it isnt even sure if plant based saturated fat is bad.

B12 can easily found in fortified plant-milks, cereals and/or other foods or can be supplemented. So can iron. But with a balanced diet you wont really need to."

"Murder is murder is murder, that's clear. Let me ask you something: you and Ol' Bessy are locked in a room with no food. You both will starve to death, but if you eat Bessy to live another 14 days, you'll be released. So... death or cake (or cow in this case)?

Your research is lacking. While consuming animal products has been linked to cancer, atherosclerosis, heart disease, and a plethora of other health issues, animal products are NOT the sole source to blame for health issues. Lack of exercise and an improperly balanced diet are more to blame. No, plants do not contain cholesterol. However, the Mayo Clinic and Livestrong research organization have shown dietary cholesterol may not have as much of an effect as dietary fats, such as saturated fat. Coconuts, almonds, oatmeal... all plant based, but contain saturated fat, which has been proven to have negative health effects. There is much debate whether plant based saturated fat is good or bad.

Sure, one could live a perfectly long and happy life on a plant based diet, but you would suffer severely from B12 and iron deficiency unless you're taking supplements.

""Shi"? You're not allergic to cinnamon, are you? If so, we used to work together. I seem to recall you were omnivorous, though.

Look, this is just challenging omnivores. It's not even a valid argument. We're in an age where things are done for us, but I'm fairly certain, if required, a person would be more than happy to get their hands bloody for a thick, juicy, smothered in cheese, ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion...

Ok, I'm back. Had to uh, you know, grab a napkin. Look, Shi... this is no different than an omnivore telling an herbivore "You want hummus? Go boil, peal, and process the garbanzo beans yourself." Granted, it's not an "unhealthy result", as you said, but it's all relative.

You want a veggie burger? Go and kill the plants yourself. Let's see how much veggie burgers you eat now. Put the effort in and we'll see how many times you actually not buy them from the freezer section.

Me? Yeah, guilty. That's too much work.

"Being a vegetarian isn't just a diet. It's not something to be taken lightly, so I warn you I might get a bit out of control in this topic. I know all of the meat eater arguments top to bottom, I've been a vegetarian so long people aren't worth arguing with I realize. However, when I want to put my opinion out there, I will, because this is more important than anything. Here are the most common meat eater arguments I see: Humans are omnivores, it's so delicious though!, we need protein, we've been doing it for so long, animals and humans aren't equal... and the list goes on. I could easily list many points to prove those arguments wrong. Humans are the most prideful creatures. We think we have so much knowledge on animals when we barely understand ourselves. We can't understand them, so how could we test their sense of being on a scale from 1-10. How is it that an animal being most like a human deserves to live the most? The only reason you think it's okay is because that's what's been formed to your mind, but if you wake up and smell the dead roses you'll realize a Holocaust times a million is going on outside your back window. Just because we've been doing it for so long doesn't make it okay. I don't need meat, I'm still standing"

Moreover, rape, sexism, slavery and racism are natural, as well; we had been torturing and exploiting other humans as well; it is the cycle of life, as mentioned heretofore at the point. Nice points, Olivia. Animals want to live; plants are not capable of wants (or at least it is not yet confirmed). Animals do suffer; plants lack the necessary structures for it."

I try to respect everyone's views, but I feel vegetarians don't get enough support. I have been vegetarian for 16 years and have never regretted it. You can not be an animal lover and eat meat. "The best and most healthy diet is being a vegetarian. To begin, "According to the USDA and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, meat is not an essential part of a healthy diet." This shows meat does not have to be part of your diet because there are other things to replace it. In addition, "A vegetarian diet rich in whole grains, legumes, nuts, and soy proteins helps to improve glycemic control in people who already have diabetes." This shows that by being a vegetarian you can still get all the nutrients you need. Finally, "On June 3, 2013 a peer-reviewed study of 73,308 people found that a vegetarian diet is associated with a 12% reduction in all-cause mortality." This shows that just from being a vegetarian you can live longer. Next time you have a meal, try to be a vegetarian, it will help you be more healthy."

This also shows a healthier choice because you can get a lot of calcium without eating meat, instead you can have foods like spinach and tofu. "vegan sources of nutrients, including calcium, vitamin B12 and zinc are far superior. Meat does too much damage to our bodies, and too much damage is caused by sourcing iron as heme iron, intrinsic factor destroyed by meat renders vitamin B12 unavailable (it's absorbed twice as effectively from plant sources in the first place), it messes up zinc metabolism and absorption, calcium is absorbed so much better from plant sources, meat, eggs and dairy mess up our body's ability to produce DHA's, proper cholesterol and vitamin K2. Bizarrely enough, despite the fact that in the western world we're languishing in skyrocketing rates of food-borne illnesses and diseases caused by eating meat, proponents of meat, eggs and dairy keep trying to skew the research saying that it's unhealthy to be vegan, or a person is at risk in the long-term by being vegan. And even use those particular nutrients as excuses for eating meat of all things! The statistics, epidemiological studies, clinical findings and the nutritional research has spoken. Meat, eggs and dairy are deadly. For us and for planet Earth and all her other inhabitants."

however, i will say that after a careful consideration of the facts and personal beliefs, i decided to be veg. for me it was a decision that led to better health. but i do know others for whom a veg lifestyle did not work. and let's face it there are those who live in areas where a veg lifestyle would not only be impractical but nearly impossible. in the arctic it's hard to grow veggies and expensive to ship them. the expense would create a burden on the population. however this is not a free pass to everyone else who lives in climates where vegetation flourishes to go ahead and eat wanton amounts of meat because our brothers in the arctic region have to in order to survive. we all need to live in accord with our own regional climate and environment. when we do this, we will be healthier and happier. stop trying to mold the earth to do things it shouldn't. if you can grow you own garden and harvest you own food. be one with the earth."

"As far as the thought that vegetarianism will help with global food production-
With each energy level in a food chain their is only 10% of energy and nutrients transferred between each level as heat is lost and the organism uses nutrients to stay alive. Therefore if photosynthetic algae is eaten by plankton which is eaten by fish which is eaten by us- that makes us the tertiary consumer (3rd level). Therefore 1000 lbs. of algae could only supply 1 lb. of a person. Of course these are rough terms- however, this transfer of energy occurs in real life. Therefore, if we are to agriculturally figure out the most efficient way to feed the growing human population- planting and consuming just plants would be much more efficient, agriculturally, and biologically."

    1) The abuse and neglect that occurs in slaughter houses is almost completely legal, and where regulations exist, they are not regularly inspected so there is no guarantee of the animals' welfare.
    2) It's not good for the environment. Two thirds of the Amazon rain forest have been clear cut so that corporations and other farmers can raise cattle, only for them to be shipped off to a slaughter house. Also, all the animal waste has to go somewhere, usually in rivers, oceans, in our water supply. Doesn't sound all that appetizing to me.
    3) It's not good for you. Meat has been linked to heart disease, obesity, stroke, diabetes, and even cancer, along with the antibiotics and pesticides that come along with it.

"The main issue with "meat-eaters" becomes apparent in their on arguments. Meat is a "convenient" source of protein and saturated fats.
Sure, we ate it for 2.3 million years, but who is "we"? the hunters and gatherers, up until we found a way to establish ourselves in the land, its a means to survive until we can re-establish ourselves and then agriculture takes over.

I went vegetarian for the health benefits alone, I will let someone else argue for the animal rights.
A large problem with meat is the high fat and cholesterol content. According to a study 75% of heart attack patients were under the recommended cholesterol levels. These are the people who "eat meat but are active and healthy", no matter how much exercise and activity is added, your body cannot make up for consuming such a concentrated amount of toxins.
The only downside to vegetarianism is if it comes as a "fad" for some people, which WILL lead to malnutrition, as well as trying to "replace" meat with processed equivalents such as the veggie patties, textured soy, tofu, etc, those products will throw your balance out the window just as fast as meat."

Many studies have been done and have clearly shown nothing is wrong, it's actually a better eating habit than those who chose to eat meat, as long as the diet is balanced and protein is received through things such as nuts or peanut butter. As a general observation of mine the average person likes fast food and eats what tastes good, many are obese. but vegetarians and vegans, because of their lifestyle, are conscious of what they put into their mouths and therefore are lead healthier lives and can educate others with a better understanding of the food in the world."

But only 1 out of 20 non-vegetarians are lacking that vitamin. And it is offending to me to see that you think that people like fast food. That is an assumption, and not a very accurate one. And although obesity is a problem in the U.S., not very many people are obese. Many are overweight, though. But, in fact, meat has nothing to do with being overweight, when you eat the right amount, which most people do. In fact, a serving of lean meat has the exact same amount of protein as a serving of beans, but the MEAT has less calories. So it's you vegetarian people who should be worrying about being overweight."

There is no good excuse for eating meat. People are too lazy to plan their diets or too selfish to give up "tasty" animal flesh to end some suffering."

Aren't we simply giving life to beautiful creatures with the sole purpose to kill them again? We might not be doing it personally, yet by buying meat products from the shops, we are increasing the demand for the meat, and therefore companies have to kill more livestock. Even if you refuse animal products once every month, even every year, you are helping the animals. Remember that by stopping this horrible business, you arehelping the ones that can't help themselves. It might sound silly, but if I can influence anyone to give up meat for just a day of their lovely life, I would feel honoured. Thank you for those who are listening."

"A vegetarian diet has many benefits that can help with your health, weight, and eating choices, and being a vegetarian means that you can't eat any meat. Now I have some facts that can support my opinion that being a vegetarian can give you the same number of nutrients that eating meat can give you. The first piece of evidence is "According to a peer-reviewed 1999 study of 76,000 people, vegetarians had 24 percent lower mortality from heart disease than meat eaters." This proves my point because it says that people who consume no meat are more likely to not get heart diseases compared to those who eat more meat. The next piece of textual evidence that supports my main idea "A Mar. 12, 2012 peer-reviewed study of 121,342 people found that eating red meat was associated with an increased risk of death from cancer and cardiovascular disease. [121] A peer-reviewed 2003 study found that adherence to vegetarian diets or diets very low in meat for 20 years or more can increase life expectancy by 3.6 years." This proves my point because it says people who have a vegetarian diet are more likely to live longer."

"Animal nerve endings are much less developed than human nerve endings, so they don't feel "pain and suffering" like humans do, they just feel some moderate discomfort. Also, animals do not have emotions. They will occasionally feel fleeting fear or stress, but not "dread and horror". Furthermore, most animals have little to no long-term memory, so even if they experienced "lifelong torture (which they don't)", they wouldn't remember it. Lastly, if any of the farm-raised animals were released into the wild, they would die within days. Think of what happens when a fox gets in a chicken yard, or when a wolf gets in a sheep pasture. Either way, the animals are going to die; we just let them live longer and give them better food in exchange for eating them later. What is inhumane about that?"

Studies have shown that many animals that are consumed by greedy humans are just as capable of thinking and eye long pain as our pets. We want equality for humans, so why not for other animals? I don't think hat anyone has said that being vegetarian is unethical, so isn't it lazy to possibly be unethical when you could easily be a better person. Also, vegetarianism is healthier than eating meat if practiced properly. If you doubt that, do your research. From an environmental standpoint, in the us, we would reduce co2 emissions more by not eating cheeseburgers Than by eliminating all cars. (Source 6 degrees) eating meat is also hypocritical. "Humans were created/evolved (whatever your beliefs are, this is not the place for that argument) to consume meat. Vitamin B12 is proof that humans are not supposed to completely eliminate meat from their diets. B12 is absolutely necessary for survival. If our bodies were not designed to consume meat, then why is B12 a necessary vitamin? Synthetic B12 did not even exist until the 20th century.

Call me crazy, but if our ancestors were vegetarian, I do not think we would be here today, since they would have all contracted anemia from the lack of Vitamin B12 in their diets and died."

"I'm a flex. Leafheads hate me because I eat meat; meatlovers hate me because I love veggies. Well I hate everyone equally, I'm not religious, and I don't hunt/fish. With that out of the way... CON's to becoming a vegetarian:

There is no substitution (yet) to meat to match the available aminos. Meat has and always will have more protein. Building muscle without meat f***ing sucks! No portabella cap will ever compare to a juicy, grilled, medium cheeseburger made with 100% grass fed bison. Jerkey. Fish. Meat, in moderation, is a vital part of nutrition. Veggies don't milk. Soy does NOT make milk! That's soy JUICE. I prefer almond milk anyway. Hot dogs (veggie dogs are good, though, too). Meat stays hot longer for an enjoyable warm meal. Easter ham, Thanksgiving turkey, and whatever duck was for. The combination of a full bodied merlot with a perfectly grilled, medium New York strip. From my understanding, vegetarians don't like leather; one of the oldest textiles known to mankind.

I'm sure I'm missing a lot. It really comes down to preference. With as much as we know about the health benefits/shortcomings of vegetarian and omnivorous diets, we don't know half as much as we should. Eat, exercise, be healthy."

"I believe that veganism is a unhealthy lifestyle. My first point is that several healthy chemicals are mostly found in meat, like B12, which is essential if you don't want severe brain damage, and most proteins, which are only found in beans/radishes in the normal vegan diet.
My second point is that the "animal abuses" vegans point to to justify their decisions are nearly completely unfounded. Even in slaughterhouses, the manner of execution involves knocking them unconscious within seconds and painlessly killing them to not damage the meat, not the brutally that vegans say happen. Before that, they live a idyllic life in pastures because of animal cruelty laws preventing any unsanitary living conditions.
My final point is that in a largely vegetarian world, there wouldn't be any need for animals- they would probably all be murdered or starved, something that most vegans would not like. This would lead to other species dying, like dogs, cats, and predators that would have otherwise lived. In conclusion, eating meat is healthy, non-abusive, and helps the world at large."

Now while you are a Vegitarian not Vegan as it might be, you would still be able to eat fish, but fish has toxins in it that if eaten too much would cause you to get very sick just because of the amount of iron and such in them. Before grasslands are used for grazing cattle, often other animals that compete with cattle for grass (burros, horses) or pose a threat to cattle (bears, wolves, coyotes and cougars) are removed and often killed. Furthermore, most cattle - even those that are free range for a portion of their lives - are sent to environmentally destructive CAFOs for "finishing." "Vegetarianism is a bad choice, mainly for the huge health benefits meat can bring. Meat is the best source of vitamin B12, which helps your nervous system and digestive health. Isn't it amazing to have a food that is not only delicious, but also packed with nutritious vitamins? Also, states, "humans have been eating, and enjoying meat for at least 2.3 million years". If humans have been eating meat for that long, we were clearly meant to. Why change what we've been doing for so long all of the sudden? Another reason is that experts have said that "about 6 animals per acre are murdered by machines harvesting crops". Meat eaters actually aren't the only people murdering animals for their food, if you converted to vegetarianism to help those cute animals survive, they will still be killed for you to eat your food. In conclusion, meat is an important part of our diets, and very delicious, so next time you make a meal, consider putting some meat in it."

Unfortunately, many people think of greasy hamburgers when they think of meat, but this is not comparing things accurately. Fruits, vegetables, grains, and meats are all important, when consumed in proper amounts and of proper kinds."

That is why I believe people should not become vegetarians and should keep meat in their daily meal."

"a balanced diet of both meat and vegatables should be preferred, no more than the other and for people who may think that meat eaters don't love animals you might want to rethink that. is a normal cycle, animal eats plant, another animal eats that animal. if thats how it works why would we have to go against it?
    2. even an animal would probably do the same, well if they could eat meat seeing as some animals literally cant. if you die and a carnivore or possibly an omnivore is starving there is a high chance it will take a chunk out of you.
    3. some animals are killed inhumanely and that is true, and we shouldn't have to do that, we don't have to do that. i like eating meat it doesn't mean i want an animal to be killed in a gruesome way for me to eat. if i had to kill my own animals to survive i would very much prefer to die.

ill speak the truth, i don't like how this works. meat eaters and vegetarians have a lot of hate for eachother, and i don't know why. you just need to agree that you can choose what you eat and live that way."

Science humans need the vitamins and other nutrition provided by meats Humans should be able to choose to eat on whichever side of the food chain they wish

But I ask you who are against consumption of meat to consider just how many jobs would be lost if the meat industry shrunk. Millions of people's jobs rely on the meat industry existing, butchers, farmers, barn workers, ranchers, factory workers who package the meat and prepare it, as well as some of our favorite restaurants. Also consider how much it would affect certain cultures around the world."

As humans, we are omnivorous, meaning we are capable of consuming both. Think of a wolf, a carnivore, tears apart it's prey. No, we are kinder. Our meat feels little pain before their death; we are not being savage. And it's not like plants don't feel pain, keep in mind that a vegetarian kills many plants so that they can live. There is nothing wrong with this cycle; it is how nature works." This proves that vegetarians should not care about the animals getting killed because they all will die at some point in time. Now this doesn't mean that you could just go around killing an animal just for the sake of it. So if you are going to kill an animal than it has to be for a good cause like for food or something like that."

"The best meals include meat, but some vegetables. The first piece of evidence is that "Every organism on earth dies or is killed, at some point, so other organisms can live." Because everything dies, we don't want to waste good meat for nothing. Also, "The inclusion of meat in the ancestral diet provided a dense form of nutrients and protein that, when combined with high-calorie low-nutrient carbohydrates such as roots, allowed us to develop our large brains and intelligence." The nutrients and protein can help your body in a lot more ways than just fruits and veggies. My final reason is that "Although it is also found in eggs and dairy, [46] a peer-reviewed July 2003 study showed two in three vegetarians were vitamin B12 deficient compared to one in 20 meat eaters." This proves that vegetarians are not getting the right amount of B12 to keep their nerves and blood cells healthy. Vegetarians may be healthy, but you always need a little meat in your diet."

"The best diet is a variety of meat and a variety of vegetables. The first piece of evidence is "The body absorbs 15% to 35% of the heme iron in meat" This shows that you should eat meat because you get more iron from meat than from vegetables. states that "Every organism on earth dies or is killed, at some point, so others organisms can live." This shows that killing animals is not bad like all vegetarians think because then other organisms can take their place. The final reason that you should eat meat is "It takes fewer calories to get protein from lean meat than it does from vegetarian options." This final piece of evidence is probably the most important because many people need to eat meat because the US has the most obesity. So this proves that the best diet is one with meat and vegetables. So what is your diet?"

"The best diet is one with vegetables and meat included in it. "Every organism dies or is killed, at some point, so other organisms can live," states Because organisms die at some point in their life anyway, it is okay because dying is natural. When we kill animals for meat and food, they are dying to help us survive. Another reason people should eat meat is "about 90 percent of United States of America cropland suffers from top soil loss at 13 times the sustainable rate." This proves that being a vegetarian is not necessarily better for the environment. Looking at the website I read "about six animals per acre, or 52-77 percent of the animals (such as birds, mice, and rabbits) that live in agricultural crop fields, are killed during harvest." Some vegetarians don't eat meat to protect animals but really when people harvest fields they are killing animals too."

Tofu is more harmful to the environment than eating meat from you local meat seller. Also the vegetarian diet is bad for the Earth is that "About 85% of US grazing land is not suitable for raising crops humans can eat." This shows how crops can be unhealthy for human consumption. This also shows how dangerous these crops are for the planet. My final piece of evidence that meat is the best diet is "The body absorbs 15% to 35% of the heme iron in meat, but only absorbs 2% to 20% of the non-heme iron found in vegetarian sources like leafy greens and beans."

You get more heme out of meat than you do with vegetarian foods such as beans and leafy greens."

"Being not against vegetarian, I think people should eat meat. One reason is that eating meat isn't bad, its just another part of the ecosystem. Vegetarians cause harm every time they kill a plant and eat it. "Every living organism is dead or killed at some time so that other organisms can live." This is just how the ecosystem works. With humans at the top of the food chain. Another state of mind is that "eating meat has been a tradition for 2.3 million years." The tradition of eating meat has lasted forever and will still go on. The human race is enjoying meat so why not just keep the tradition going? One last piece of evidence is that "meat is the best protein source available." "In one serving, meat gives you all the amino acids (building blocks of protein) and nutrients such as iron, zinc, and B vitamins." Most plants do not give the right amount of amino acids and nutrients that meat gives you. I’m not against vegetarian, I just prefer meat as a good diet. All of the evidence I have proved in this paragraph proves that meat is better than plant. So, next time you have dinner, try meat and you will like it. Go to for more proof of meat being good."

"I believe that people should not be vegetarian becuase meat includes all the essential amino acids that our body needs for a proper diet. It is also a good source for protien. Yes, you can get protien from legumes and grains but it doesnt hold the same amount of protien. You would have to eat three servings of legumes/grains for every one serving of meat if you wanted to get the same amount of protien intake. Not eating meat would mean an increase in carbohydrates and fat intakes. Ladies, you know that chocolate you crave during your menstrual? When are brains are craving sweetes, it actually means our bodies are craving red meat. This is because of the great source of iron found in the meat. No, eating too much red meats can be unhealthy but we're not just talking about red meats. In fact, seafood is probably the best thing you can ever eat as far as internal health is concerned. Finally, humans are natural meat eaters meaning, eliminating such a big part of our food group could be unhealthy."

"If everyone actually became vegetarian, the amount of people that are vegetarian would obviously increase, but the amount of crop that can be raised in USA does not. In fact, the amount of companies shutting down will lead to the loss of so many jobs that the unemployment rate would shoot up and lead to the fact that millions would be homeless and unable to buy the veggies they need, where they could have bought meat or veggies if they still had their jobs. Also, making everyone eat veggies limits the people's freedom since now they can't eat what they please, going against many laws, both national and international, and the US constitution. Finally, the animals raised for our consumption were domesticated and raised by us. Their lives would never have been created if it weren't for the fact that we raised them and gave them protection. If animal cruelty is involved in their lives, then it is the people who purposely or not did it, and so the consumption of meat has little to do with it."

Statistics have shown that "Americans eat an average of 52.3 pounds of beef, 57.4 pounds of chicken, and 43.5 pounds of pork, per person." American people eat way more meat than they did in 1930. Americans are eating an unhealthy amount of meat. states that, "The investigation found that animals in slaughterhouses were often cut apart 'peice by peice' while still conscious." I believe that this is completely disgusting. I think this because the people killing the animals are making the poor animals suffer while they slaughter them. They don't even make sure they are unconscious first. "The average American gets 67% of their dietary protein from animal sources." However, states that, "According to the American Dietetic Association, a vegetarian diet can meet protein requirements, provide all the essential amino-acids, and improve health." Just because some people don't eat meat, doesn't mean that they don't get the nutrients they need. Vegetarians are usually healthier than meat eaters anyway. "he only allowed it after the flood and it was regulated. several places in the bible it states that the domestic animal should be cared for and that the righteous one should care for his animal.
before the flood the diet was vegan, as god told adam and eve that they could eat from every tree and all plants were good for food, no mention of eating animals in eden. i think this shows that people can live without, but the later allowance, not because God had changed his mind but because the Earth and the way man needed to live outside eden had changed, shows that it is not wrong to eat meat, just that care should be given to the animals. i have respect for those who farm and slaughter their own animals after caring for them and for those who hunt their food giving the animal a fair chance. but since i could never kill an animal myself, i feel it hypocritical to eat them and am therefore a vegetarian. and while it's not a perfect diet by any means - no diet can be as we are not perfect people - the bottom line is that each person has a right to chose what they will put in their mouth and what they will support."

Admittedly, they were not even close to as smart as humans, but I don't think they ever once thought, you know, I should stop eating meat... Meat is not necessary to survive for us, but it isn't bad. I'm not gonna force you to eat meat, but you also don't need to shove your vegetarian ideals down others throats. That will be all.

There is no basis in anatomy or physiology for the assumption that humans are pre-adapted to the vegetarian diet. For that reason, the best arguments in support of a meat-free diet remain ecological, ethical, and health concerns."

"- There's many kinds of Vegs, even Vegs that eat meat and fish. That's because there is not one kind of vegetarian diet, but all kinds of vegetarian diets. All of those can be summed up in six kinds:

    - All heart diseases attributed to meat, even those claimed by certain studies, must now be considered in light of this new study: I deeply regret the absence of this reference in the pros/cons arguments.

    - A majority of Vegs (not all), especially vegans, tend to turn their diet into a religion, a sort of blind dogmatism that does not take in consideration all the studies that have been released. They sometimes express arrogance, pride and radicalism, pretending to detain a higher or better ethic truth just because of their diet. Ethics that we cannot quite seise the content but that permits them to rise barriers and clans against those who are not vegs. Take a look of the "thumbs down" made in this side of cons..."

It is not as concentrated and many people refuse to investigate a "well rounded" meal schedule for themselves. I had to due to my daughters food sensitivities one being meat. Though I am not 'against' meat eaters I do wish all who eat meat would get it from a local small farm and let the CFO (factory meats) leave our memory forever :)"

Its not like anybody is saying not to eat vegatibles or meat. as humans we need to use our intelligence to eat both wisely. there are some foods that we shouldnt even be eating because they are so bad. i know a vegetarian he is so disgustingly week and pail that its creepy. he punched a kid and fractured his hand. both eating just meat and just vegatables can be harmfull to a person. but with the right amount of both we can be even faster, stronger, and smarter.NO VEGATARIANISM IT ISNT AS HEALTHEY AS YOU THINK, MOST OF THE PROS ARE FORMED OF OPINIONS JUST SAYING."

That is how we make our living. The animals are slaughterd vary humanly, those who say they have seen actual footage of animals being beaten to death are either lying or confused. PETA uses footage from other countries fom like a long long time ago. There is nothing cruel or inhumane about eating meat. it is the way of life."

"actually read in genesis 1:29 "here i have given to you all vegetation bearing seed which is on the surface of the whole earth and every tree on which there is fruit of a tree bearing seed. to you let it serve as food." verse 30 goes on to give a similar mandate to the animals telling them to eat vegetation. humans eating meat was not introduced until genesis 9:3 "every living animal that is alive may serve as food for you". this mandate came 1600 years after adam's creation. thus for 1600 years humans were vegetarians.
some people will argue that in eden humans were given animals in subjection, but let's look at it this way: a king has people in subjection to him. but he has a responsibility to those people to care for them. a good king is kind and looks after his people and provides for them and loves them. a bad king rules with fear and cares little for the feelings of his subjects. so are we good stewards or bad. while we now have a right to eat meat, humans didn't always do so and weren't created to do so, afterall eden was a truly peaceful place and you can not have true peace if there is killing of any sort."
